Greetings to Everyone,
Leaving
the –26 Celsius of Western Canada it was truly a treat going to
Orlando’s sunshine and warm weather. The meetings were very productive
and the tournament was a huge success. I will try to highlight the
happenings that affected our District. Be sure to check the ACBL
Bulletin or web page for the full minutes from the Fall meeting.
The
most significant news for District 18 comes for our 2011 GNT’s. I was
able to negotiate a trial usage of the internet for our 2010-2011
District play-downs. Next May 6-8 we will using BBO to select our
District representatives. Between 4 and 8 sites will be selected as
hosts. These sites have not been determined at this time but every
effort will be made to provide sites that are relatively close for all
participants. Marie Jolley will be sending out the full details so be
sure to get your teams entered as soon as possible.
I
would like to remind everyone of the new program the ACBL has offered
clubs to post game results on their web site. To date more than 900
clubs are taking part. If you think it is something your club could
benefit from be sure to contact ….

The
League is in the midst of rewriting ACBL SCOR. They are presently
working with a system annalist to determine what are the needs of our
new system. You can be a help with this. Is there something you think
ACBL SCOR should do? Are there reports you would like to see it
generate? What about an APP that would let you use your GPS to find and
map the closest bridge club in your area? Please send me any and all
suggestions. I will assemble your ideas and forward them to the steering
committee.
Another
reminder is for the ACBL cooperative advertising program. If you are
advertising programs at your club you may eligible for reimbursement. In
addition you could also qualify for reimbursement under our Districts
new program. Again be sure to contact head office with your questions.
For
those who planning far in advance the following future NABC’s were
approved:
